Workshop 1 - Arm Pelion IoT Platform and STMicroelectronics Cellular IoT

It is our pleasure to bring to you the first of two workshops conducted by our technolgy partners for IoT Innovation Challenge 2018. In this workshop, participants will gain knowledge of Arm Pelion IoT Platform, Mbed OS and get the opportunity to hands on connecting to real NB-IoT network using STMicroelectronics P-L496G-CELL02 Discovery pack.

    Pelion IoT Platform and MBed OS

    Arm will be sharing their new Pelion IoT Platform, which is a flexible, secure, and efficient foundation spanning connectivity, device, and data management. It accelerates the time to value of your IoT deployments by helping you easily connect trusted IoT devices on global networks, invisibly administer them, and extract real-time data from them to drive competitive advantage. Arm Mbed OS, a free, open-source embedded operating system designed specifically for the "things" in the Internet of Things will also be introduced. It includes all the features you need to develop a connected product based on an Arm Cortex-M microcontroller, including security, connectivity, an RTOS, and drivers for sensors and I/O devices. Arm Mbed OS works seamlessly with the Pelion IoT Platform.

    Hands on with P-L496G-Cell 02 Cellular IoT Disco Kit

    STMicroelectronics will introduce their P-L496G-CELL02 STM32 Discovery pack for LTE IoT Cellular to Cloud (STM32-C2C/LTE IoT). The pack, which is a turnkey development platform for cellular and cloud technology based solutions composed of an industry leading ultra-low power STM32L496AGI6 based discovery kit with preloaded firmware and an STMod+ cellular expansion board with antenna. The takeaways from STMicroelectronics session include

    • LPWAN overview, especially NB-IoT
    • Hands on with P-L496G-CELL02 to connect to real NB-IoT network.
    • Hands on with P-L496-CELL02 to upload the sensor data to the cloud and control the board remotely from the cloud

    Note: Lab PC will be provided for the training. For those that prefer to do the hands-on using their own computer, a document entitled "STM32 Cellular to Cloud Preparation before workshop" containing instructions on how to setup your computer for the workshp is enclosed.
